![]() There was an old trick of looking for notebooks that said Made in Brazil, and similar, because at the time they were still pretty much cutting down old trees which meant stronger more consistent paper fibers that handled feathering/bleed better. Only thing that could feather/bleed it was a fat sharpie (or oddly enough a Bic Z4+ rollerball), but then they switched to a "Bio-Blend" (30% sugarcane, 70% recycled material, thicker feel), which they said most customers liked the change, but bled and feathered horribly with liquid inks. Some sugarcane options are good, it used to be that when Roaring springs sold "Environotes" 100% Sugarcane, it could take anything and everything, even my huge 2.0 wet stub with a very wet ink. (Moleskine isn't that great for fountain pens, and the company themselves said it's designed primarily for pencils and ballpoints). Mead 5-star wasn't designed for liquid inks, and just like Moleskine they're mainly good for pencils, ballpoints, and gel pens. I used the same inks with the same pens on both pages and the images speak for themselves. Shading is much more prominent and it even brought out the slightest hint of sheen with my Parker Blue/Black ink! It's been 20+ minutes since I wrote on the Pen+Gear paper and the ink is still shiny and smudgeable. Oddly enough, Noodler's Apache Sunset refused to dry at all on this paper. Dry times were increased, but that is to be expected when the paper doesn't absorb ink like a sponge. To my surprise, the Pen+Gear notebook performed way better than the Mead Five Star! There was virtually no feathering, no ghosting, and no bleedthrough. I decided to test out one of my old notebooks from high school, before I began using fountain pens. ![]() My notes were either one-sided or mildly illegible ever since I picked up the hobby a few years ago. ![]() I've been buying Mead Five Star notebooks for the past few school years and I often dismissed the feathering and ghosting because I always assumed it was to be expected with wet-flowing fountain pens. The region is a dream come true for those looking for wine tours it’s exactly what one imagines a wine region- ancient cellars, medieval villages, and peaceful scenery.I found myself bored and distracted while taking notes for my online Psych 101 course and realized something I should've noticed a while ago. Still, the wineries mentioned above are true stars and making very inspired wines. Chianti wineries gained a bad reputation in the ’70s for mediocre wines, and it is true that some wineries still live off the DOCG classification. Wineries such as Badia a Passignano, Isole e Olena, Badia Coltibuono, Felsina, Capannelle, San Felice, Montevertine, Castello di Ama, and San Fabiano Calcinaia are making exquisite wines, predominantly with the Sangiovese grape, one of Italy’s noble varietals.Įven Super Tuscans are being produced in this subsection of Chianti (for example, in Castello di Volpaia), uncommon as most Super Tuscans are made in the coastal Maremma region. These days, there is seriously stylish Chianti Classico produced, which bears no resemblance to those old straw flasks (used to decorate Italian restaurants across the planet).

What's the point of the plane designer? If you want several types of fighters they as I understand have to be deployed in amounts of 100, so it seems to get to be focused in finally only use few types as manufacturing resources are finite. It is not possible to deploy 12 or 24 (I use usual historical sizes)? The meta is tons of planes, but a role-played game use fewer in selected spots. First one is if wings are type plane constructed? Do we know to deploy 100 planes for reconoicance tasks? It is not strange and counter intuitive. Regarding this matter, I have some questions. 100 planes is a lot for countries with smaller industrial bases, even a historical major like Nationalist China, especially when they must be distributed between multiple strategic regions. However, I do hope the devs are open to changing the size of the fixed wings from 100 to something smaller. But I support this decision in principle because I am happy to see the devs implement a straightforward, known-good solution to this problem and spend their time on the many other bugs that remain. It doesn't have to consider making air wings smaller instead of moving them, because making them smaller isn't an option any more.Īs a role-player, I will also miss the ability to set wing sizes at historical levels. If both human and AI players are distributing air wings of equal size between the available airbases, then the AI can use a less complex algorithm with fewer edge cases and far less likelihood of planes ping-ponging between two airbases. The devs have said that this was done to solve the very common problem of the AI overstacking airbases. Why not make task forces four ships minimum, then Operation Rhein would never happen! That's the same level as this new limitation. If as Germany we can attack Russia with less than 150 divisions, then we should have the option of where and how we want to base our air forces. The game is based on WW2 for heaven's sake. Sure, it's probably a peeve only a very few (or maybe just me) find problematic, but I find it close to deal-breaking. Not only does it blow immersion and role-play out the window, it also rids the player of a level of operational control. I saw a previous post on this subject, and it doesn't look like I'm wrong, but I didn't want to be lost in a reply thread and essentially ignored.įat chance, maybe, asking to reverse a design decision, but I find this greatly irritating. That is like me to miss something that's obvious to others, but if it is fixed at 100, then it should be changed back to the player's discretion and not artificially determined. ![]() Now, it's possible I've missed something. What if I don't want to reinforce to 100 fighter planes on a particular airbase? Or 100 anything else? I should have the option of setting reinforcement limits for particular air coverage zones. ![]() If this is the case, then this is blatantly ahistorical. Roger (his former captain) that was synonymous with his image until he passed it on to Luffy. More consistently stays his facial hair, however, as he has always kept it in a neatly thin connection of beard and mustache stubble, forming the beginnings of a circle beard.Ĭlothes-wise, Shanks used to wear a certain straw hat obtained from Gol D. Later appearances show him more markedly countenanced, the square of his jaw, the sharper, narrower pair of eyes, and the chiseled, more prominently bridged nose lending him a manlier appearance. Its features were similarly milder than later depictions and, save for his small nose, also larger, most so his plain black eyes, topped by thin brows. As did his hair, Shanks' face changes as the manga's art style progresses: initially, it appeared more youthful, a soft jawline tapering down to a small, pointy chin. Additionally, Shanks' left arm is missing from below the deltoid, as a result of him saving Luffy from a Sea King when the future Straw Hat captain was just a child. On his face resides a secondary trademark: a triple set of parallel, linear scars that pass vertically, at an angle over his left (untouched) eye, revealed to have been given to him by Blackbeard some unknown time before the start of the series. In later appearances (at ten years older), he is shown with slightly longer hair, wavier and more slicked back than before except for some few strands he lets fall down the sides of his face, pushed farther sideward than said prior bangs. Shanks' first-seen hairstyle was a straight, middle-parted one kept loosely down to nape length, with shorter (at eye level), curtained bangs in the front. Worthy of note is that, uniquely among all characters seen so far, even ones with a comparable hair tone, Shanks' hair is the sole one filled with grayscale in the black-and-white manga (instead of inked black or left white). True to his epithet, Shanks has distinctly red hair, usually depicted across media as a deep crimson. Among the original lineup of the Four Emperors, he stood out as the smallest, most normal-sized human by far, the others being inhumanly proportioned to varying degrees. The temperatures you quoted seem realistic but you can't always rely on SpeedFan to be accurate. As a comparison, my GPU's lowest idle temperature is 45 degrees and there's a passively cooled GPU in an old PC here which idles at 60 degrees. It wouldn't be unusual for those temperatures to increase by 20 degrees on a hot day. For me, they're "cool" encoding temperatures though, as it's winter where I am. This PC's been sitting between 50 and 55 degrees for the last day or so while the other one's been sitting on 45 degrees for a couple of days. I've got a few long encoding jobs to do so I'm currently encoding with both PCs (I normally don't use this one for x264 encoding as it's too slow). If 47 degrees is the temperature you're concerned about it's not necessary. Handbrake took what I thought to be a long time of 2 hours to do one main file of movie length. During this session the temp stayed at about 47C with a cool down temp which I noted afterward of 33C. I monitored the temperature with Speedfan 4.47. Not necessarily anything terribly expensive, just something a bit better than the stock cooler (assuming that's what you're running).Ĭan't say I'm surprised. If the CPU is getting too hot though and you encode video regaularly, it'd probably pay to invest in a better CPU cooler. I don't have anything over the top when it comes to CPU cooling and depending on the time of year (winter or summer) and how lazy I've been when it comes to cleaning the dust out of the CPU heatsink, my CPU's operating temperature probably varies by about 25 degrees when it's running flat out. How hot was the CPU getting and how are you monitoring the CPU temperature? They can get hot when running hard. Actually VirtualDub has a "speed limit" slider but I can't say I've ever used it. I don't know of any encoder GUIs which actually have a "slow down" function, but maybe someone else does. Low CPU usage generally means there's a bottleneck in the process, which is sometimes unavoidable (for example CPU intensive filtering which isn't multi-threaded) but generally the idea is to make maximum use of the CPU. ![]() Ironically, the usual goal is to achieve the highest possible CPU usage, which in turn equates to the fastest possible encoding time. I'll see how that goes this time through. This was bad for a number of reasons including processor heat up due to high usage. At first, it sounded like it was merely an inside joke for those who played Paratopic. “Don’t watch the tapes,” was a tagline often repeated as part of developer Arbitrary Metric’s social media campaign. You discover a briefcase filled with VHS tapes, the object of a mysterious and unhealthy obsession among the people you encounter. You sit in a diner talking with a man whose face gets closer with every dialogue transition. At less than an hour, it’s an eerie trip that jumps in between abrupt camera cuts, taking you through scenes that don’t make much sense during your first playthrough. Paratopic lets you see through the eyes of three different individuals, each tangled in their own tale of horror and regret. One of them is carrying a gun.Īn assassin. They begin to talk, but you don’t understand them. The three faces look at you for a moment, quiet. But it’s also possible to disrupt them even further by using magnetic fields-so much so that any sense they’re connected to real events has been worn away. Once you find what you need, you’re free to stop the tapes and forget they exist. When you play them, you become a temporary prisoner of whatever reality they contain, rewinding and distorting the world around you, clicking to collect hidden gems and other items you’ll need to slot into the sterile world of the factories. You can only progress through puzzles by manipulating the cassette tapes you discover. But its reliance on analog tapes and the way they shift over time lend an unsettling quality to the experience. Small Radios Big Televisions is not, strictly speaking, a horror game. Dillon Rogers, the developer behind the survival horror title Gloomwood, has argued on Twitter that “the compression and physical corruption of VHS makes it a flexible aesthetic for horror.” It’s these juxtapositions-between the inherent credibility of analog media and the sense it might be deceiving you, and between intentional corruption and organic decay-that make tapes such fertile ground for video games, especially those that seek to unsettle or frighten us. Nature, too, is a video editor: The passage of time, with the help of humidity and high temperatures, undermines the magnetic organization of a videotape, modifying both image and sound. Even before hundreds of digital tools for modifying recordings, analog videos could also be altered, subverting the snapshots of reality they purported to hold. In our age of Photoshop and deepfakes, we tend to think of digital media as uniquely corruptible and easily manipulated, but physical media wasn’t infallible, either. By 2016, when the last company manufacturing VHS tapes, Funai, ceased production, the format had been around for 40 years. Aspiring movie makers toyed around with the new possibilities opened up by this technological democratization. Throughout the era, recorders became more affordable, and families began to capture their own memories for posterity. Tapes were a popular medium for distributing movies (and even some games) for decades, becoming commonplace throughout the ’80s and ’90s. The problem is, there’s no way to prove that any of these scenes ever really existed.
